Thermo-Dynamic Steam Traps |

ThermoDynamic Steam Traps |
Spirax Sarco Thermo-Dynamic Steam Traps
- Thermo-Dynamic® traps are operated by changes in fluid dynamics.
- Thermodynamic steam traps are compact, simple, lightweight and not affected by waterhammer or vibration.
- Thermodynamic traps discharge condensate close to steam saturation temperature. This makes them the first choice for steam mains drainage and critical tracing.
|
|
Benefits & Features
Thermodynamic steam traps combine reliability, simplicity and efficiency of operation. With just one moving part - a hardened stainless steel disc - they give a blast discharge with clean, tight shut-off. Able to withstand superheat, waterhammer, corrosive condensate, freezing and vibration the TD trap is the first choice for removal of condensate from steam distribution systems. Range: 3/8'' to 1''; up to 3,625 psig; carbon steel, stainless steel and alloy steel; capacities up to 4,700 lb/h. |

Steam Traps

Float and Thermostatic Steam Traps
Float & Thermostatic mechanical steam traps have an integral air vent as standard and the options of a manually adjustable needle valve (SLR - steam lock release mechanism) and drain cock tapping. The FT range is adaptable to all applications where ball float traps are recommended and instantaneous removal of condensate is required.
- Immediate condensate discharge with clean, tight shut-off. No back-up of condensate ensures maximum plant efficiency and heat output to the process.
- Works efficiently on both heavy and light loads with no passage of live steam.
|
|
Benefits & Features
Only a Float & Thermostatic steam trap can drain condensate as quickly as it forms while at the same time removing air and other non-condensible gases which may be present at start-up or collect during operation. Condensate never backs up into the steam space; gases collect in the top of the trap and are removed through a separate integral air vent. Spirax Sarco offers the world's most complete line of Float & Thermostatic steam traps with cast iron, ductile iron, carbon steel and stainless steel bodies for steam pressures up to 465 psi and condensate loads up to 300,000 lb/h. |

Balanced Pressure Steam Traps |

Balanced Pressure Steam Traps |
Balanced Pressure Steam Traps
Balanced pressure thermostatic steam traps adjust automatically to varying steam pressures
- Condensate is discharged at below steam saturation temperature, utilizing sensible heat in the condensate and reducing flash steam losses.
- Automatically discharges air and other incondensable gases to aid rapid warm-up of plant.
- Discharge temperature set by capsule selection – no requirement to adjust on site.
|
|
Benefits & Features
Balanced pressure thermostatic steam traps adjust automatically to varying steam pressures and have excellent air venting characteristics during plant start-up and during normal operation. They have large discharge capacities for their size and the robust design of the internals gives a good life expectancy. Range: 1/4" to 1"; up to 600 psig; brass, cast steel and stainless steel; capacities up to 11,000 lb/h. |

Inverted Bucket Steam Traps |
Inverted Bucket Steam Traps
Spirax Sarco inverted bucket steam traps employ a simple and well-proven principle, which relies on the difference in density between steam (a vapor) and condensate (a liquid). They have a robust design and incorporate a simple density sensitive bucket and lever mechanism.
- Near continuous condensate discharge with tight shut-off. Minimal back-up of condensate ensures maximum plant efficiency.
- Simple and robust construction to guarantee long life against waterhammer and vibration.
- Stainless steel internals are attached to the cover for ease of maintenance.
|
|
Benefits & Features
Inverted bucket traps are the most robust type of the mechanical traps and will resist waterhammer. Also, with a check valve fitted in the inlet, they can be used with superheated steam. They are available with a wide selection of valve orifices for precise pressure and load matching. Range: 1/2" to 2"; up to 900 psig; cast iron, cast steel, alloy steel and stainless steel; capacities up to 20,000 lb/h. Repairable, sealed and universal connector styles available. |

BiMetallic Steam Traps |
Bimetallic Steam Traps
Bimetallic thermostatic steam traps are primarily used to control the release of condensate so that its sensible heat can be utilised and energy losses caused by flash steam on discharge reduced. These factors are all important in today's energy conscious world.
- Condensate is discharged at below steam saturation temperature, utilising sensible heat in the condensate and reducing flash steam losses.
- Automatically discharges air and other incondensable gases to aid rapid warm-up of plant.
- The bimetal elements can work over a wide range of steam pressures without any need for on-site adjustment.
|
|
Benefits & Features
The bimetallic steam traps can conserve energy by discharging sub-cooled condensate in those applications which can utilize sensible heat. They are the most robust of all the thermostatic steam traps, able to withstand waterhammer and corrosive condensate. Range: 1/2" to 4"; up to 3045 psig; cast steel, alloy steel and stainless steel. Capacities up to 400,000 lb/h. |

Liquid Expansion Steam Traps |

|
Liquid Expansion Steam Traps |
Liquid Expansion Steam Traps
The liquid expansion steam trap employs a liquid expansion device to discharge condensate at a predefined temperature.
- It can easily be adjusted on site to any temperature within the operating range.
- Utilizes sensible heat in the condensate, reducing flash steam losses, which saves energy.
|
|
Benefits & Features
This is one of the simplest thermostatic traps. An oil filled element expands when heated to close the valve against the seat. The adjustment allows the temperature of the trap discharge to be altered between 60° C and 100° C, which makes it ideally suited as a device to get rid of large quantities of air and cold condensate at start-up. |
Fault Detection |
|
|
Fault Detection |
Fault Detection Steam Trap Monitoring
The R1C steam trap failure monitor will monitor the performance of a single steam trap when used in conjunction with a SPIRA-tec® sensor chamber and sensor.
- It will indicate whether a trap is operating correctly, passing live steam or has failed closed by means of colored trap status lights on the unit.
- Analog and digital outputs allow it to be connected directly to BEMS/EMS to indicate steam trap status remotely.
|
|
Benefits & Features
Any steam management system should include steam trap monitoring as a basic tool to reduce waste, costs and environmental liability. Whether this is conducted manually or automatically will depend on the size of the site, the number of traps, the number of personnel, and the urgency of repair. |

Steam Trap Stations & Manifolds |
Steam Trap Stations & Manifolds
The modern method of manifolding is to purchase the manifold as a standard piece of equipment just like buying a steam trap.
For convenience select the manifold with optional insulation jacket and mounting kit specifically designed for tracing applications.
Where time is of essence, the use of universal connectors and compact universal trap stations allows rapid change out of steam traps,
reduced space requirement and a smaller carbon footprint versus the old conventional steam trap stations. |
|
Benefits & Features
The Spirax Sarco USTS II series of steam trap stations have been designed to be a complete trap station in a very compact size. Offering a range of forged steel manifolds designed for steam tracing applications. |
